
On May 31, 2024, the "Beware the Share" Online Campaign was successfully launched, attracting around 200 enthusiastic participants. This event focused on raising awareness about cyber safety and online child protection. Joshua James, Regional Counter Cybercrime Coordinator at UNODC, opened the event with an inspiring message on the importance of vigilance against cybercrime.
Atty. Ma. Yvette Tamayo - Coronel, Head of Legal Affairs at WASP, provided a strong message of support, emphasizing our collective responsibility in creating safer digital spaces. Julian Millan Platero, an expert from UNODC, delivered the keynote address, shedding light on online child sexual exploitation and the urgent need for action.
The event featured an engaging audio-visual presentation on cyber awareness, followed by insightful learning sessions. Atty. Khersien Bautista from the Department of Justice's Office of Cybercrime discussed sextortion and online child sexual abuse in the Philippines, highlighting local challenges and legal responses. Nguyen Thi Nhu Trang from UNODC Vietnam, Matthew Watson from UNODC Fiji, and Sara Montagnin from UNODC Philippines shared international perspectives on combating cybercrime.

Ms. Alleine Nicole S. Namuco, Director for Operations of WASP, facilitated a dynamic panel and open forum that drove discussions on actionable steps to enhance online safety. Further, Ms. Jonalyn Villasante, Executive Director of WASP, closed the event by reiterating the importance of ongoing vigilance and cooperation.
The seminar emphasized the need for awareness, education, robust legal frameworks, and global cooperation to protect children and ensure online safety.
