Quezon City, August 24, 2024 — In a significant stride toward empowering the youth and women leaders of Barangay Commonwealth, the Women's Alliance for Security and Peace (WASP) successfully conducted the CyberLeaders Training Program on August 24, 2024. The event brought together 40 young leaders from Barangay Commonwealth Youth Coalition Organizations and women community groups, offering a comprehensive six-hour training session on cybersecurity awareness and digital leadership.
Supported by the YSEALI Professional Fellowship Accelerator Program, led by Ms. Jona Villasante, this initiative highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital age. The program aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world safely and effectively.
A key highlight of the program was the active participation of the Philippine Army Cyber Ladies, who served as resource speakers. Their invaluable insights into cybersecurity fundamentals, data protection, and online safety were instrumental in equipping the participants with essential skills. The Cyber Ladies’ expertise and dedication ensured that participants gained practical knowledge on secure digital practices, fostering confidence in their ability to protect themselves and their communities online.
Brgy. Councilor Raymart Garcia of Commonwealth, Quezon City played a pivotal role in the event by hosting the program. His unwavering support and commitment to community empowerment were crucial to the success of the event. Councilor Garcia’s efforts in bringing together youth leaders and women from the community underscored his dedication to fostering a safer and more secure digital environment for all.
The CyberLeaders Training Program featured a range of engaging lectures on data privacy, online safety, and digital leadership. Participants actively engaged with the content, gaining valuable insights into protecting themselves from online threats while using digital tools to drive positive change in their communities.
One participant shared, "The knowledge and skills we gained today will have a lasting impact on our community. We feel more confident in safeguarding ourselves and leading our groups through the challenges of the digital world."
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants, recognizing their successful completion of the CyberLeaders Training Program. WASP extends its heartfelt thanks to Brgy.
