Quezon City, October 21, 2024 – Miriam College, in partnership with the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), the Women and Gender Institute (WAGI), and the Women’s Alliance for Security and Peace (WASP), successfully hosted the forum "Securing the Nation: Women’s Leadership in National Security and Cybersecurity." The event brought together over 100 participants, including students, young professionals, and community leaders, to explore the vital roles women play in addressing modern security challenges.
Held at the Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center, the forum featured an esteemed panel of female leaders, including Col. Francel Margareth Padilla-Taborlupa, Spokeswoman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; PCol. Nova G. De Castro, Chief of the Legal Affairs Division of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group; and Lt. Col. Jannette Chavez Arceo, Philippine Army Reservist. These accomplished women shared insights into their experiences and challenges in national security and cybersecurity, inspiring attendees to pursue leadership roles in these critical fields.
The event highlighted the intersection of innovation, leadership, and technology in addressing national and global security threats. Discussions ranged from combating cybercrime and protecting digital infrastructures to the importance of fostering inclusion and diversity in security leadership.
