A Vision for the Future: TalenTrail x WASP Asia Event in Cagayan de Oro

Hello WASP

In a world that is rapidly evolving, empowering the youth with the skills, knowledge, and inspiration they need to navigate their future is more crucial than ever. This was the guiding principle behind the recent TalenTrail Program held in Cagayan de Oro, a collaborative initiative between Andam Higala Inc. and WASP Asia. The event took place from April 23-26, 2024, brought together 100 senior high school students from Canitoan National High School for a transformative journey into career exploration and capacity development.

The TalenTrail Program was designed to open doors to new career possibilities, particularly in fields that are becoming increasingly vital in today’s society. With a strong focus on digital security, cybersecurity, law enforcement, criminology, and the military, the program aimed to broaden the students’ horizons, develop essential skills, and provide practical experiences that align with their career aspirations.

Over the course of the event, students participated in various seminars and breakout sessions, each carefully curated to provide insights into the realities of different career paths. Topics ranged from digital literacy and cybersecurity to career opportunities in law, criminology, and the military. These sessions were not just about imparting knowledge; they were about inspiring the students, sparking their curiosity, and encouraging them to think about how they can contribute to society in meaningful ways.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Major General Jose Maria Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, and the entire Philippine Army for their invaluable support. Their participation brought a unique perspective to the event, offering students a glimpse into the world of military careers and the importance of cybersecurity and digital defense. The presence of these esteemed guests provided students with real-world insights and a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges in these fields.

The success of the TalenTrail Program would not have been possible without the visionary leadership of Herna Frances Tano, the head of Andam Higala. Her dedication to empowering the youth and her commitment to fostering community growth were instrumental in bringing this event to life. Under her guidance, Andam Higala continues to create impactful initiatives that equip the next generation with the tools they need to succeed.

This event was supported by the US Embassy and funded by the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), demonstrating a powerful commitment to nurturing young leaders and supporting innovative initiatives across Southeast Asia. Together, these collaborations ensure that programs like TalenTrail have a lasting impact, inspiring students to explore their potential and pursue careers that contribute to economic growth and community development.

As we reflect on the success of the TalenTrail Program, we are filled with hope and optimism for the future. By providing students with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration they need, we are helping to shape a new generation of leaders who are prepared to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. We look forward to continuing this journey, expanding our reach, and making a positive impact in the lives of young people across the region.
